A Statement from our Head of School regarding COVID-19:
We are monitoring the Coronavirus situation along with the rest of the world. Our first priority is the health and security of our students.
You can see the information on this virus at CDC’s website: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/index.html
We will be working to minimize the educational impact of this situation, while at the same time being diligent in doing what we can do to prevent the potential spread of the virus along with monitoring for any signs of the illness so we can properly care for the students.
We will instruct students in how to help themselves by taking precautions recommended by health officials including.
- Wash Hands often
- Don’t share food or drinks
- Cover coughs and sneezes with tissue or sleeve
- Wash bedding regularly
Here are some recommendations from the Utah State Health Department: https://coronavirus.utah.gov/protect-yourself/
We will also work to identify sick students and have those who can, stay home while ill and also isolate Residential students as they recover. Our school nurse will be checking more regularly on the students as well. We will also utilize other nurses and health care professionals in our school community to monitor students and recommend the necessary care for their condition.
One item to note: This is still the cold and flu season. Additionally, it is allergy season as the spring brings about pollen in the air which may bring about symptoms such as nasal congestion, headache from sinus pressure, runny nose, itchy/watery eyes, sore throat, coughs, and sneezes. We will watch most closely for a fever, but we will work to make sure the student gets the medical attention they need and we will continue to work at being diligent in cleaning areas of the school.
During Spring Break, we would suggest the students not travel internationally. Other travel is discouraged as well. Our Residential houses will remain open during spring break, so the students can stay during this time. We will be diligent in monitoring and caring for the students and at the same time providing them with as much normalcy in their schooling and schedule as possible.
Should you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]
Thanks,
Greg Miller

Athletics Update
As many of you have received emails in regards to the school’s precautions and COVID-19, we have some measures from a few of our athletic associations in regards to athletic participation.
The WAC middle school spring season has been canceled. Please find the letter from the Board of Managers attached to the email sent earlier today from our Athletic Director, Jared Miller.
The UHSAA
The Association is also suspending all UHSAA spring activities beginning Monday, March 16, for a period of at least two weeks. Member schools and/or districts as a local decision may suspend spring activities immediately. Those member schools and/or districts will need to work with the UHSAA on suspensions. All out-of-state school-related travel has been suspended immediately for a period of at least two weeks.
In consultation with board directives and information provided by state public health officials, the UHSAA has suspended spring activities to properly fulfill best practices regarding the protection of students and the general public. More information will be sent to member schools and/or districts as it becomes available.
The UHSAA has received questions regarding practices and team gatherings. This is a local school and/or district decision.
*LCA will still continue to hold practices with our student-athletes as long as the students are safe and healthy.*
The USSA will make a decision soon. We believe the decision will resemble that of the UHSAA.
AAU boys volleyball has postponed a decision until tomorrow afternoon. We will update you as soon as we can.
(UHSAA, USSA, and AAU are all high school teams.)

Traffic Flow
Attached is a flow chart for traffic here at LCA. If you are entering from the west or exiting to go west, please use the west entrance/exit. If you are entering from the east or exiting to go east, please do so using the east entrance/exit. Also, in the mornings, we have a “drive-thru” drop-off zone. This is for parents that are not exiting their car but just dropping off their students at the door. If you plan on getting out of the car with your student, please use the other lane to go around and park your vehicle in the parking spots. We want to keep our kids safe and appreciate you helping us to do so.

Service Hours Opportunities
*Our Residential Homes are in need of twin mattresses and chests of drawers! If you have these items you would like to donate, service hours can be awarded! Please contact Mrs. Miller at Ka[email protected] with questions or to arrange a donation!

Most appointments happen at Utah Orthopedics in South Ogden, near Ogden Regional Hospital, and are scheduled during the day. If you are interested in being on the “on-call list” to help out with this need, please email Mrs. Miller at [email protected]!
